Configuring California Meal Break Rules

California Labor Compliance

If you operate in CA, enable these settings to avoid penalties.

  1. Go to Settings > Compliance.
  2. Meal Break Threshold: Set to 5.0 Hours.
  3. Meal Break Penalty: Enable "Flag missed breaks".
    • If an employee works >5 hours without a 30-min break, the system flags the timesheet for a "Meal Penalty" (1 extra hour of pay).
  4. Split Shifts: Enable tracking for split shift premiums.
