Setting up Overtime and Break Rules

Navigate to Settings > Compliance to automate labor law adherence.

Overtime Rules

Weekly Overtime Threshold

The number of hours after which weekly overtime pay begins.

  • Default: 40 hours.
  • Action: Hours worked above this limit are flagged as 1.5x pay in Payroll exports.

Daily Overtime Threshold

The number of hours after which daily overtime pay begins.

  • Default: 8 hours (California standard).
  • Action: Hours worked above this limit in a single day are flagged.

Break Rules

Meal Breaks

Mandatory unpaid breaks.

  • Threshold: How many hours an employee must work before a break is required (e.g., 6 hours).
  • Duration: Minimum length of the break (e.g., 30 minutes).
  • Auto-Deduct: If checked, 30 mins is automatically subtracted from the timesheet if the employee forgets to clock out for lunch.

Rest Breaks

Paid 10-15 minute breaks.

  • Frequency: e.g., "One break every 4 hours".
